MY ADVANTAGE TO YOU
For over 20 years, HUMED Natural Medicine Clinic has been your trusted healthcare source in Etobicoke and the GTA. I provide effective, pain-free, evidenced based, results-orientated care. I encourage you to experience relaxing, clean, and professional care. At HUMED, I do things a little differently. My treatments whether it be Acupuncture or Osteopathy, are unique and effective. I get results. My goal is to help you recover as quickly as possible and get back to living life.
Reaching your health and wellness goals does not have to be painful, stressful, or even difficult. It can be as easy as sitting in that big comfy chair at home. Relax, unwind, de-stress, and let HUMED help you recover your health. My treatments are effective and evidenced based.
I help you gently recover your health by first, discovering the imbalances/disturbances in your body (the root cause), then adjusting and balancing your Chi/Energy. Issues such as pain, disease/immunity, fertility, digestive disorders, blood pressure, stress, anxiety, depression, migraines, and addiction are effectively resolved.
My treatments help you live life to its fullest physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Physical, emotional, and spiritual toxins are gently released allowing for energetic blockages to be removed. All toxins whether they be physical, emotional, or spiritual, must be released for total health recovery. I offer a varied list of therapies because I believe that whether it be through Acupuncture, Acupressure, Osteopathy, Scraping or Cupping, Chi or one's own Energy, must move in a balanced way throughout the body for complete and total health recovery. Otherwise, pain, fatigue and/or illness will be the result. We were all created differently and vibrate at our own individual frequency; and therefore, require an individualized treatment plan.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture was discovered 5000 years ago in China and encompasses 14 meridians or pathways that carry energy throughout the body. As energy becomes blocked in certain meridians, due to stress, anxiety, anger, sickness, toxins, or injury, imbalances occur. One feels pain, fatigue, headaches or just a feeling of being unwell. Tiny, sterilized acupuncture needles are gently and strategically inserted just below the skin at different acupuncture points along these affected meridians to gently remove the blockages, encourage blood flow, and re-establish the proper flow of 'chi' or energy. It is an Acupuncturist's job to help guide your body towards unleashing the innate healing power from within you. If performed correctly, Acupuncture does not hurt and is completely safe with no side effects. Single use disposable needles are used, and they are thinner than a strand of hair.
In Western Medicine, the minute an acupuncture needle is inserted into a 'vortex of energy'(acupuncture point), the central nervous system is positively affected, and a message is sent to pain receptors in the brain. The brain 'wakes up' and releases a chemical called endorphin. Endorphins not only reduce pain, but also increase energy, boost the immune system, affect hormone levels and relax the body. They are a happy chemical! Studies show that Acupuncture re-establishes the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) allowing the body to rest and re-set.
Acupuncture is more than just physical healing of pain or disease. It also encompasses the emotional and spiritual bodies. Traditional Chinese Medicine was in the beginning, intertwined with wisdom. It was a holistic approach to medicine believing in the mind-body connection. TCM Acupuncture utilized all aspects of wisdom, combining healing on many aspects from spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional.
Osteopathy also works with the whole body and helps to move blood, spinal fluid, and lymph fluid. The artery is supreme! Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are trained to detect, prevent, and treat health issues by adjusting, stretching, and gently massaging your muscles and joints. Arteries carry blood full of oxygen to nourish the cells. Osteopathy ensures that the artery is decompressed (not under stress) and can properly do its job of carrying oxygen enriched blood throughout the body. My Osteopathic treatments all begin with assessing the health of the spine.
All parts of the body function together in an integrative fashion. Form is function! If one part of the body is restricted, then the rest of the body must adapt and compensate leading to pain, inflammation, and stiffness. My goal as an Osteopath is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems in order to unleash the innate healing power within you.
I was initially educated at the University of Toronto earning a 4-year Honours degree, a 3-year Undergraduate degree, and finally a Masters. I continued my studies at the New Earth College for Natural Healing Sciences in Toronto where my studies culminated in a graduate programme of study in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture earning a Diploma of Acupuncture (1200 hrs). In total, I earned well over 2200 hours of Acupuncture education and training. After further study, I obtained my Doctorate of Natural Medicine (DNM), and Diploma of Osteopathy (DO-MTP). I am also a Certified Homeopathic Health Practitioner, a certified Reiki Practitioner, and am a member of the World Tung's Acupuncture Association (M.W.T.A.A). I am constantly updating my knowledge of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Osteopathic Manipulation, and Natural Medicine.
I believe strongly that Acupuncture and Osteopathy while treating acute & chronic conditions, can also help to maintain good health. They are both wellness modalities that can be used 4/5 times a year to help maintain total wellness and prevention.
Being a member in good standing of the CTCMPAO, General Osteopathic Council of Ontario, The Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners, The Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, The Examining Board of Natural Medicine Practitioners, and the World Tung's Acupuncture Association, simply said, I adhere to strict guidelines of practice. Professionalism and empathetic care are my commitments to you!
